On Monday and Tuesday pupils can attend study from 17u. till 18.30, on Thursday from 16.15 till 17.30. Pupils can also go to our OLC (open Learning Centre) where they can use the computers or work in groups.

How to reach school

Pupils come to school by public transport (bus and train), on foot, by car (by their parents), or by bike. The school offers a parking spot for the bicycles.

Contact with parents

Parents are informed regularly about gatherings, activities, marks …We have the following communication channels

  • Smartschool: an online learning platform used for all communications
  • Website cidp.prizma.be
  • Facebookpage
  • Parents evenings: at least 4 times in a year we have a meeting with the parents.
  • Parents council: volunteers of the parents that gather with the principal at least 5 times a year and organise activities.

Schoolbooks

Pupils can rent some books that have to be used only one year. Other books are bought at the beginning of the year. Each teacher tells pupils what they should bring to their classes. During physical Education pupils have to wear a school uniform which consist of a white T-shirt with the school logo printed on.For some course pupils need special equipment. Those can be ordered at school.

Infrastructure

To be able to offer quality education we try to have up-to-date equipment for our different subjects: audio and video equipment (radios, cd-players, DVD-players, digital camera, digital recorder…), science-classes, laboratory, three kitchens, multimedia class, specific equipment for the fashion division, sales class, computer classes, Internet (also wireless) …

Study-counselling

We try to help and advise our pupils in how, how long and how much to study. Everyone that still is looking for a good method or that needs counselling will be helped. We also have special attention for pupils with dyslexia, autism, any kind of handicap … We have a system of remedial teaching to help students that have learning disabilities or that have problems for certain subjects. After the Christmas holidays we analyse their situation and together with them we start up a remedial plan to guide and help them catch up. We work together with external partners as the CLB (Centre for pupils guidance).

Training

All our pupils have to do trainings in companies as well. This way we want to bridge the gap between school and companies. Our 7th graders also have a small enterprise every year to let them get acquainted with real working life.

Religion

Our school is a catholic school. We also have a group of volunteers that arranges all kinds of activities for the religious moments of the year. We organise special days in several themes.

Creative, culture and sports activities

We like to let our pupils explore the world and themselves and try this by offering several extra-curricular activities as: project week, visiting museums, fashion show, field trips, sports, trips to Paris, Londen, Maastricht, Milan, Lille, Canterbury …

Rules

Our pedagogical project stipulates that we want to let pupils mature by giving them responsibility and freedom in respect for everyone. We do this by giving clear and complete information and rules.

Student council

To make sure that students can respond to everything which goes on in school and can participate fully in school life there is a student council. Pupils gather once in a fortnight and discuss school policy or organise activities for the other pupils. They are also welcome in the school council or school board to explain their findings.

Exchanges

For some years now, we’ve been organising all kinds of international projects to let our pupils meet other people, culture, education systems, views on life … Most exchange projects start in the 5th grade and go on for two years but we’ve also had Comenius-projects and smaller projects through the Internet or with neighbouring countries.
